Land development is a key feature of the Emporia City Commission’s action session Wednesday evening.
Commissioners will consider an ordinance amending the zoning of nearly 17 acres on the east side of the Soden’s Road-South Exchange intersection, followed by a request for a Conditional Use Permit to build a new housing development as part of what’s called a Housing Opportunity Overlay district.
Also, city commissioners will officially consider a Conditional Use Permit at 1519 Merchant. If approved, this will let CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness consolidate most of its operations at the former Emporia State Chi Omega building — and set the table for Newman Regional Health to expand its operations by taking control of CrossWinds’ current administrative offices at 1000 Lincoln.
Another Conditional Use Permit has been requested for 2626 West Highway 50 to turn a vacant building into a warehouse.
In other business, commissioners may approve a letter of support for the Rural Innovation Strategies Incorporated’s Heartland Regional Grant.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at the Municipal Court Room.
