Northern Heights and Lyndon were the last teams standing at the end of the 2022 Flint Hills Shootout Saturday night.
A halftime rally saw the Northern Heights Lady Wildcats claim their second straight Flint Hills Shootout championship 54-42 over Council Grove.
Northern Heights would jump out to an early 7-3 lead in the first thanks to a late quarter 7-0 run but couldn’t maintain control as the Lady Braves outscored Northern Heights 14-7 to take a 18-14 lead into the half. Northern Heights would take the lead back for good three minutes into the second half.
Council Grove would keep the deficit as low as four late into the game before some fortunate trips to the foul line saw Northern Heights stretch the lead to eleven to clinch the win. Northern Heights Sophomore Teagan (TAY-gun) Hines led all scorers with 17 points.

Head Coach Bob Blair says their players rose to the challenge.
In the boy’s game, Lyndon would shake off a half-time deficit to come out on top over Council Grove 62-56.
After outscoring Lyndon in both the first and second quarter the Braves would carry a six-point 31-25 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Lyndon would respond by outscoring Council Grove 17-11 to enter the final quarter tied at 42.
The Tigers would not trail after overtaking the lead early in the fourth and stretched their lead to as many eight at one-time en-route to their championship win.
Lyndon was led by senior Toby Miller with 27 points. He credited his team for weathering the early storm.
Head Coach Michael Massey says it was a battle the whole way.
