Emporia Main Street’s FreedomFest Committee made another donation out of proceeds from the 2021 All Veterans Tribute.
The donation took place at Emporia’s National Guard Armory near 18th and Merchant, with $1,000 going to the 137th and 635 Regiment Scholarship Fund. Main Street Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz
Kansas Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major Steve Harmon, a FreedomFest Committee member, says FreedomFest donations have helped to fund five scholarships per year since 2005, although the scholarship was in place before the FreedomFest Committee got involved.
The FreedomFest Committee has already donated $3,250 to the All Veterans Memorial out of registration fees and outright donations from last year’s FreedomFest event.
