Power has been restored after a large-scale power outage left around 800 Evergy customers offline Monday afternoon.
The outage was first reported just after 1:30 pm west of Prairie Street affecting most of the commercial corridors on West Sixth Ave. and Industrial Road. The outage affected several traffic lights in the area, however, no accidents were reported as a result.
Emporia High School was also reportedly affected by the outage, however, full details have not been disclosed.
According to Evergy officials, the cause was due to an equipment malfunction on a switch in the area. Power was fully restored just before 2:45 pm.
