Kansas US Senator Jerry Moran stopped briefly in Emporia as part of a quick swing through the KVOE listening area.
Moran was the featured guest at the Flint Hills Optimist Club’s weekly meeting at the Emporia State Memorial Union. Prior to that meeting, Moran had a one-on-one interview with KVOE News, which largely dealt with the current COVID-19 situation. Moran says supply issues, notably with testing but with other items as well, could have been resolved with a stronger, earlier response from the White House.
During the meeting, Moran spoke about several items, including Veterans Affairs hospitals across Kansas opening up some of their available beds to non-military hospitals as a way to expand medical care during COVID-19. He also spoke to a potential $1 million grant for Emporia State as part of a cybersecurity training effort, saying such a grant could attract a range of tech jobs to the area.
Following his time in Emporia, Moran drove to Eureka for a visit at Eureka High School.
