One house was evacuated after a gas leak near downtown Emporia on Tuesday morning.
Emporia Fire responded to the intersection of East Kansas and South Mechanic shortly before 10 am. Firefighter Michael Nunley tells KVOE News Kansas Gas was working with a construction company on a project at 228 South Mechanic when a gas line was punctured. The line was quickly pinched off.
After being initially called to East Kansas and South Market, firefighters briefly blocked off East Kansas between South Kansas and South Mechanic as repairs were made. No injuries were reported and traffic detours lasted less than 30 minutes.

Emporia Fire and Kansas Gas are on the scene of a reported gas leak Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the intersection of East Kansas and South Market shortly before 10 am after the incident and have blocked off the intersection. Word on potential evacuations is currently pending.
