The Emporia State baseball team opened their season with a 12-6 win over Northern State Sunday night.
The Hornets scored 3 runs in the first, added 2 runs in the 2nd then scored 6 runs in the 4th inning.
Designated Hitter Lukas Rich drove in 3 runs. Chandler Bloomer, Kadyn Williams, T.J. Racherbaumer each drove in 2 runs. Aaron Bechtel was the winning pitcher going 5 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits with 7 strikeouts.
The Hornets will play Southwestern Oklahoma State Monday in Edmond, Oklahoma.
