Advance voting has ended for Osage County residents wanting to cast their ballot on the future of the county’s law enforcement and emergency management facility.
For residents who did not use the advance vote process but still want to vote, Osage County’s normal polling places will be available between 7 am and 7 pm Tuesday.
The current plan is to construct a new facility with 144 proposed beds, up from 30 currently available, and a facility that will house all aspects of law enforcement and emergency management. If approved, the new facility could cost upwards of $18 million.
Original plans were to have the question on last fall’s election ballot before officials decided they needed more time to get all affairs in order. Sheriff Chris Wells and others have said the current space suffers from black mold and compromised ceilings and floors along with a sinking foundation and inadequate storage.
