Emporia and several nearby communities are receiving block grant funding for major projects.
Emporia picked up a check for $750,000 for upcoming improvements to Highland Street near the Emporia State University campus. City Manager Trey Cocking says projects will include new street pavement, sewer lines and water lines. The city must provide a $750,000 match to be part of this grant.
Also:
*Lyndon is receiving over $500,000 for a new 2,800-square-foot community center.
*Osage County is receiving over $260,000 for sanitary sewer improvements and renovations to a wastewater treatment plant.
Forty Kansas citites and towns received funding through this round of block grants.
