Emporia State University recognized members in its 2020 and 2021 Athletics Hall of Honor inductees with ceremonies at the Emporia Country Club on Friday.
On the list are:
*Alan Johnson, a member of the men’s track and field team from 1974-1975
*Brittany Miller. who played both volleyball and women’s basketball from 2007-2011
*Cassondra Boston Richards, a member of the women’s basketball team from 2006-2010
*Alli Volkens, who played women’s basketball from 2007-2011
*KVOE Sports Director Greg Rahe, who has served as the radio Voice of the Hornets since 1988
Rahe says it’s humbling to be inducted.
Rahe thanked coaches and administrators at Emporia State and area high schools. He also thanked his co-workers at KVOE for “making the job a joy and making it possible to get to this point.”
According to ESU Associate Athletics Director and Head of Media Relations Don Weast, Rahe has been involved in over 1,500 broadcasts during his career, including football, basketball, baseball and softball as well as his coverage of other ESU athletics.
Rahe is a nine-time award winner through the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and the 2018 winner of the Hod Humiston Award for significant contributions to sports broadcasting in Kansas.
