Severe storms and high straight-line winds from two months ago have now triggered federal disaster aid for two area counties.
President Joe Biden has announced federal funding for a host of counties across Kansas, including Morris and Wabaunsee counties, after damaging weather Dec. 15. Winds were as high as 60-100 mph that day, with the highest winds north and west of the KVOE listening area.
Disaster funds are available for Kansas, eligible local governments and nonprofit organizations as a cost-sharing process. Funds are for emergency work and either repair or replacement of certain facilities.
