Emporia Fire is investigating after fire damaged a house Friday evening.
Fire Capt. Jesse Taylor says the cause and origination point for the fire at 611 East Second haven’t been determined yet. Firefighters were called out shortly before 6 pm and found smoke coming out from the roof on all sides of the house. The main fire damage was limited to a bedroom, but there is smoke and fire damage through the house.
The main fire was extinguished quickly, Taylor says. Nobody was home when the fire broke out.
Americus and Olpe were also called as mutual aid as part of the initial response call.
7 pm Friday: Fire reported in east Emporia
Emporia Fire and two Lyon County fire departments were called to battle a fire in east Emporia early Friday evening.
Firefighters from Emporia, Americus and Olpe were dispatched to the 600 block of East Second shortly before 6 pm. Details are yet to be confirmed.
