The better than $600,000 refresh of the WS and EC Jones Breast Care Center at Newman Regional Health is nearly complete.
Recently, KVOE News told you about the addition of 3D mammography to the Breast Care Center. Radiology technologist Amber Peak says the new technology will offer a more thorough diagnosis for patients, including improved accuracy in breast tissue images, increased rates of breast cancer detection, reduced need for additional testing and an easier interpretation of dense breast tissue. She also says the center’s goal is to help patients from the very start of their process all the way through the end of treatment.
The refresh could well be finished this spring with the addition of a DEXA bone density scanning next month. Remodeling has been underway for several weeks as well. Funding was made possible by the Jones Testamentary Trust and an allocation from Lyon County.
People wanting more information on 3D mammography or wanting to schedule a mammogram can call 620-343-6800 extension 21167. The hospital says financial assistance may be available through Newman Regional Health’s Breast Care Screening Fundy of patients have no insurance coverage or are not eligible for Early Detection Works funding.
