Emporia High School has six Lady Spartans still in competition after day one of the 5/6A state tournament in Park City.
Two Lady Spartans will be wrestling for a state championship Thursday night. Both Maddie Griffin at 126 lbs and Virginia Munoz at 138 lbs advanced to the championship match with wins by fall in the championship semi-finals.
Emporia High girls Coach Shawn Russell was pleased with the first day.
Azia Obregon at 115, Katina Keosybounheuang at 120, Kiana Flores-Delgado at 155, and Megan Olson at 235 will compete in the wrestle back round to begin day two Thursday morning.
Evelin Geronimo’s season came to an end after back-to-back losses in her opening bout and first-round consolation match.
