Emporia State University has announced its annual Bonner and Bonner Diversity Lecture.
Autumn Rose Miskweminanocsqua (Raspberry Star Woman) Williams, a one-time Miss Teen Shinnecock and Miss Native American, will speak about “Youth Advancing Social Justice: How to be a Changemaker” on March 3. Williams was raised on the Shinnecock Reservation in New York State. She says being Miss Teen Shinnecock and Miss Native American, as well as attending college in between those honors, let her learn about the world and the people around her.
The presentation is at 7 pm March 3 in Albert Taylor Hall. It is free and open to the public.
The Bonner and Bonner lecture series was developed in 1992 by Emporia State’s first and second African American faculty members, Doctors Thomas and Mary Bonner. It has been organized by Emporia State’s Honors College since 2015.
