Emporia High had three Lady Spartans place at the 5/6A state Girls Wrestling tournament.
Senior Maddie Griffin finished in 2nd place at 126 lbs.
Sophomore Virginia Munoz finished in 2nd place at 138 lbs.
Senior Megan Olson finished in fourth place at 235 lbs.
Emporia High Coach Shawn Russell was proud of every wrestler’s effort.
As a team, Emporia finished in sixth place.
Dodge City is the state champion, Washburn Rural finished second, and Wichita North third.
The Emporia High Boys will begin state competition at Hartman Arena Friday. The Spartans will have 7 wrestlers competing.
Xerarch Tungjaroenkul goes in as a regional champion.
Lukas Hainline will be wrestling at 126 pounds.
Braxton Malone will be wrestling at 106 pounds. Jesse Ultreras will be wrestling at 170 pounds. Davian White will be wrestling at 182 pounds, Bobby Trujillo will be wrestling at 195 pounds and Joshiah Bradley will be wrestling at 285 pounds.
The matches start at 10 am. All matches will be broadcast on KVOE 1400 am, 96.9 FM and KVOE.com.
