The latest COVID-19 Dashboard from Newman Regional Health may be the last one it releases, at least for now.
The dashboard shows low COVID traffic from Feb. 10 to Wednesday. Hospitalized COVID patients were as low as one per day Feb. 17 and again from Feb. 19 to Tuesday. Since Feb. 10, the highest number of hospitalized COVID patients per day was four, both on Feb. 10 and Feb. 12.
COVID hospitalizations had peaked at 16 per day in late January, some two to three weeks after Lyon County’s omicron wave peaked.
As was the case through the winter, the percentage of fully-vaccinated COVID patients needing hospitalization surpassed the previous high-water mark. Nearly 28 percent of the hospitalized COVID patients since July 1, or 42, needed to be admitted. Fully-vaccinated patients stayed at Newman Regional Health an average of 6.7 days, below the 9.9 days for unvaccinated patients.
