Bidding was hot and heavy at the St. Patrick’s Committee annual auction at Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill on Friday night.
Around $14,000 was raised, putting a smile on organizer Trey Sommer and other members of the St. Patrick’s Day Committee — especially after the group had to cancel last year’s auction due to COVID.
Funding benefits 13 different community groups, nonprofits and causes.
Over 60 items were auctioned off. A weenie roast for 10 people raised $900. A KVOE advertising package and a combination guided fishing trip and pontoon rental as organized by What’s In Outdoors and others both brought in $800.
Additional activities are planned March 19, including a parade, virtual Leprechaun Dash, art event through the Emporia Arts Center and other activities. More information is available on the Emporia St. Patrick’s Day Committee Facebook page.
