The Emporia High Girls and Boys Basketball teams closed out the regular season with losses at Topeka Seaman.
The girls were outscored by Seaman 47-41.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey said they came up a few plays short.
Gracie Gilpin scored 17 points and passed the 1000 point mark for her career. Addie Kirmer finished with 15 points.
The Lady Spartans are the number 3 seed in the 5A West sub-state rankings. They will host Valley Center in the first round of Sub-State play Wednesday night at 7 pm. The winner will play Either Goddard or Kapaun Mt. Carmel next Saturday for a trip to State.
Seaman won the boys’ game 70-58. Coach Beau Welch said the difference was they could not stop Seaman from scoring at the rim.
Parker Leeds finished with 22 points. River Peters added 19 points.
The Emporia High boys will close out the season Monday when they host Newton. Tipoff is set for 6 pm.
