Travelers using Interstate 35 east of Emporia need to be mindful of a road construction project beginning next week, weather permitting.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says there will be a mill and overlay project affecting I-35 from the Lyon-Coffey county line to near the US 75 intersection near BETO Junction. Nearly 12 miles of highway is set to be repaved.
KDOT says there will be periodic lane closures throughout the project, which should end in May. Lane closures are expected both during daylight and night hours.
Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka won the contract with a $7 million bid.
