The Emporia community is asked to come out and support a tremendous cause and the memory of a beloved resident through a special fundraising event this weekend.
The inaugural Amanda J. Rodriguez scholarship fundraiser will be taking place at the Del5ive Center at 802 Graham Street in Emporia Friday evening. Following her passing back in November of 2020 Amanda’s brother and Neustra Music Radio Show host Victor Rodriguez says it was important to their family to do something to keep her memory alive.
To accomplish this, the family endowed a scholarship in Amanda’s name at Emporia State University which Victor Rodriguez says made sense given Amanda’s high level of involvement with youth in the local community.
Friday’s fundraiser will begin at 9 pm and run until 1 pm with drawings, door prizes, street tacos courtesy of St. Catherine’s Church, dancing and live music from San Antonio, TX, based recording artists La Dezz. Admission to the fundraiser is $15 per person or $20 per couple.
You can find more information on the event on Facebook.
