The Emporia High girls will play Lansing in their first round game of the 5A State Tournament being played at Emporias’ White Auditorium.
Senior Allie Baker says they are excited to be playing in the state tournament.
Lansing is making a return trip to State after losing in the semi-finals last year. Lansing also won the 5A Volleyball state championship.
Emporia High Coach Carolyn Dorsey says they will have to match their physicality.
The tipoff is set for 8 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
In the day’s first game at 2 pm St. Thomas Aquinas the defending 5A Champion plays Spring Hill.
In the 4 pm, game Bishop Carroll plays Andover Central.
In the 6 pm game number 1 seed Salina Central plays DeSoto.
3 Area teams are also scheduled to play Thursday.
At the 1A Division I State Tournament, the Burlingame girls open against Little River, a team they lost to during the regular season.
Burlingame Coach Jeff Slater just wants his team to play their best.
Tipoff in Dodge City is set for 8 pm. The game will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
At the 1A Division II State tournament, the Lebo girls open against Hanover in the 8 pm game at Barton Community College.
Lebo Coach Patrick Gardner says Hanover offers several challenges.
The game will be broadcast on MIX 104.9.
At the 2A State Tournament in Manhattan, the Lyndon boys open against Sterling in the 4 pm game.
