Kids and parents learned a bit more about the importance of amphibians during the David Traylor Zoo’s annual Spring Forward event Sunday.
Outreach Coordinator Dehlia Sutton was pleased with the turnout at the Zoo Education Center. She says amphibians are a good bellwether for apparent climate change and other environmental factors, and they don’t handle the wild temperature swings we’ve seen just this winter.
Sutton’s also excited for what’s to come at the ZEC once it is renovated as part of the better than $4 million Oasis capital campaign.
Sutton is looking forward to a joint “Croakey Pokey” StoryWalk event involving Mobilizing Literacy, READ Lyon County and the Emporia Public Library on April 2, followed by an expanded and extended Party for the Planet on April 23.
