Investigations continue into a pair of devasting house fires in Greenwood County from this past weekend.
Details are still pending on the apparently fatal fire at 916 North Oak in Eureka from early Saturday. The fire destroyed two buildings, and a body was found inside one of the two structures after the fire was eventually put out. The office has not named the victim with official identification still pending, according to Sheriff Heath Samuels.
Details are also coming after the fire at 311 West Greenwood in Hamilton early Sunday. Both occupants got out safely. There is no word on the status of an unaccounted pet from the initial report.
Initially, KVOE News was told the Kansas State Fire Marshal was investigating. A spokesperson with that department says it’s helping with those investigations, and all official statements on both fires will come from the Sheriff’s Office.
