The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the person who was found dead after a fire in Eureka this past weekend.
The Sheriff’s Office says Cathy Chastain, 68, was found dead after firefighters and deputies put out a fire at her home, 916 North Oak in Eureka, early March 12. Koup Family Funeral Home of Eureka is in charge of arrangements, and it says a memorial service will take place at a later date. A fund to offset Chastain’s funeral expenses has been established at Community National Bank in Eureka.
Details about that particular fire and one early Sunday at 311 West Greenwood in Hamilton are still under investigation, with the Kansas State Fire Marshal involved in both investigations.
