St. Patrick’s Day celebrations will continue into the weekend for Emporia.
Activities through the St. Patrick’s Day Committee will run throughout the day Saturday in downtown Emporia and will include the annual parade beginning at 1 pm. Organizer Mark Koseck, a recent guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia, says as of Wednesday there were just over 20 entries for the parade and they still have plenty of room for more.
In addition to the parade, the Emporia Arts Center will be hosting an art event from 11 am to noon. The virtual Leprechaun Dash continues at this time and can be completed at any time before Saturday.
This weekend’s activities follow the committee’s annual auction that took place on Feb. 27 at Bruff’s Sports Bar and Grill and raised just over $15,000 to benefit 13 different community groups, non-profits and local causes.
