Newman Regional Health has partnered with Coffey Health System on a cost-saving information technology initiative.
The collaboration will allow both agencies to benefit from a multimillion-dollar investment by Newman in MEDITECH Expanse, an interoperable web-based electronic health records (ERH) system the hospital has been using since January of 2018. Newman Chief Administrative Officer Cathy Pimple says MEDITECH Expanse has provided numerous benefits to the hospital since its implementation including enhanced information sharing amongst teams and different care providers.
Pimple adds, “Both leadership teams are excited to put into operation this solution for CHS. CHS has always demonstrated quality health care and excellence. This infrastructure will support their mission into the future.”
CHS Chief Executive Officer Joben Reith says, “this opportunity allows both Newman Regional Health and Coffey Health System to maximize our investments in EHR technology while both systems remain autonomous. Through this cost-saving, we can focus more efforts on patient care services without compromising patient privacy or changing any aspect of patient care.”
Implementation of the partnership is expected to take place over the course of the next nine months and will continue for the next five years. Automatic yearly renewals will occur over the course of that time frame with mutual consent from both parties.
While the agreement will provide financial savings to both entities, the agencies will remain operationally independent from one another.
