Following a recent trip to eastern Europe, Kansas US Senator Roger Marshall says there is more America and the world can do to halt Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
In a special Zoom meeting with media Monday, Marshall asked the Biden administration to implement sanctions now instead of this upcoming summer and he asked other nations to “stop doing business with Russia.” He also called for a war tribunal to investigate alleged Russian crimes against humanity.
Fellow Kansas US Senator Jerry Moran didn’t go as far as Marshall in requesting a war tribunal, but he agrees with Marshall by saying the American response needs to pick up speed.
Moran and Marshall were part of a bipartisan delegation that traveled to Germany and Poland and observed both security and humanitarian support to Ukrainians with the war now approaching one month old. Both lawmakers credited the work of both countries to help the better than 1 million refugees fleeing Ukraine. Marshall says Ukranian residents are dealing with bombed-out locations and no utility services for several weeks. Marshall also credited the American military for their work in eastern Europe to train Ukrainians and NATO allies — and he delivered boxes of Emporia-made Hostess Twinkies to both military personnel and displaced Ukrainians.
