At the close of business Friday, the application window closes for a brand-new business pitch competition.
Show of Hands, a venture of Main Street and Ignite Emporia, gives entrepreneurs 10 minutes to state their cases for crowdfunding, which will come as those in attendance vote — with their ticket dollars — for their favorite idea.
Main Street Director Casey Woods says the contest is a way for entrepreneurs to fund their projects, whether they are startups or expansions.
Applications for both new projects and significant business expansions are online at emporiamainstreet.com. Paper applications can also be turned in to the Main Street office at 727 Commercial by 5 pm Friday. The contest is April 7 at the Emporia Arts Center. Click here for the application.
