If you’re in need of a good book, the Friends of the Emporia Library has deals for you.
The Friends have their first book sale of the year going Saturday through March 31. Books, DVDs and even album records will be on sale. Organizer Gene Graber encourages area residents to take part, saying the fundraiser is big for the Friends — and, by extension, the library.
As usual, 9-11 am Saturday gives current Friends members first dibs on all the available items, including books, DVDs and record albums. The general public can participate after that. The sale will take place at 618 Mechanic, with public hours from 1-5 pm Saturday and Sunday, 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Wednesday and 9 am to noon Thursday.
Special bag sales, another book sale tradition, are also in effect. Bag days begin Tuesday at $10 a bag, followed by $5 a bag Wednesday and $2 a bag on Thursday.
