Lyon County residents who think their recent property valuations are inaccurate have a chance to appeal those figures — but the deadline to do so is coming soon.
The appeal deadline is at 5 pm Monday. Lyon County Appraiser Ryan Janzen says his office has a 10-day window to schedule appeals once those are requested, so appeals could be heard all the way through April. He says residents should expect roughly 30-minute meetings per property.
Initial stats aren’t immediately available, but Janzen says the number of appeals are comparable to past years. So are the types of questions and complaints, including market trends, percentage of increase and methods or data used to set individual valuations.
