Callers using 911 in Lyon County may have noticed a slightly longer processing time than normal Sunday.
The Lyon County Emergency Communication Center’s call handling system had minor “lock-ups” Sunday. Director Roxanne Van Gundy tells KVOE News there were plans in place to send calls to Franklin County if they weren’t answered locally “in a reasonable amount of time,” although it hasn’t been announced if calls actually had to go there.
AT&T was monitoring the situation through the day. No issues have been reported during the overnight shift.
5 pm Sunday: Lyon County 911 experiencing minor call handling disruptions
If you are trying to contact Lyon County 911, you may have to wait a bit longer than normal.
According to a post from 911, the Lyon County Emergency Communication Center’s call handling system has been experiencing minor “lock ups” Sunday. LCECC Director Roxanne Van Gundy tells KVOE News the disruptions have not resulted in the center losing any calls at this time.
If a lock up occurs staff are able to log back into the system, however, this process may result in a slight delay between when residents place their calls and the call is answered. Van Gundy asks that residents not hang up a call until it is answered.
AT&T is currently monitoring the situation and if it worsens calls to the center will be rerouted to Franklin County.
