The Emporia High baseball team opened the season with a doubleheader sweep of Highland Park. They won the first game 11-0 in 6 innings. Cam Geitz was the winning pitcher going all 6 innings shutting out the Scotsmen on 3 hits and 13 strikeouts.
Hayden Knuth drove in 4 runs. Aiden Skiles and Logan Thomas both drove in 2 runs.
The Spartans had two big innings scoring 6 runs in the 3rd inning and 4 runs in the 6th inning.
The Spartans won the 2nd game 14-0 in 4 innings.
Hunter Redeker was the winning pitcher tossing a 1 hitter.
Owen Ruge, Aiden Ewing and Hayden Knuth each drove in 2 runs.
The Spartans started off the game with a 6 run 1st inning. They added 4 more runs in the 2nd inning.
Next week the Spartans play at Junction City and will host Topeka Hayden.
