The Emporia High baseball split a doubleheader with Topeka Hayden Friday.
Hayden won the first game 13-3. Hayden scored 4 runs in the 1st inning then would add 5 runs in the 4th inning and the Spartans would never catch up.
Emporia High won the second game 8-5 scoring all 8 runs in the first inning. Jaxon Dial would drive in 2 of the runs.
Freshman Owen Ruge was the winning pitcher going all 7 innings, throwing 109 pitches, giving up the 5 runs on 10 hits.
Coach Anthony Markowitz was pleased with the 2nd game bounce back.
The Spartans are 3-3 for the Season. They will host Topeka West on Monday.
