The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Melvern resident was killed in Wednesday’s crash in northwest Coffey County.
Troopers say Kevin Orear, 64, was driving a pickup northbound on Interstate 35 when he crashed about four miles east of Lebo shortly before 6:30 pm. Orear’s truck went off the highway and hit a bridge post on the south side of the Interstate.
Orear was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was the only person in the pickup.
The online crash log does not indicate why Orear’s truck went off the highway.

At least one person was killed in a crash near Lebo on Wednesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a vehicle was northbound on Interstate 35 when the crash happened between Lebo and BETO Junction shortly before 6:30 pm. The vehicle left the highway for currently unlisted reasons and hit a bridge post.
