Kansas US First District Congressman Tracey Mann made a stop in Emporia Tuesday.
During a visit with local constituents at the Lyon County History Center Mann addressed a number of both foreign and domestic topics. Chief among the talking points was the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Mann says he is in favor of the United States offering assistance to the citizens of Ukraine, however, he says he is not in favor of having US troops “on the ground” at this time. Mann would go on to say that citizens need to remember that while the war is happening in Ukraine, its impacts are not limited solely to that portion of the world.
On the domestic front, Mann addressed the still ongoing issue of supply chain disruptions and material shortages that have been highly publicized over the past year. Mann says while the issue seems to be decreasing, it is still a prevalent problem with a few key factors.
Mann also says he is pleased to see many states, especially Kansas, moving into endemic response to the COVID-19 pandemic in recent weeks. He believes the continued lifting of certain COVID-19 mandates and restrictions will mean more people willing to return to the workforce which will in turn help to bolster both the state and national economies.
Mann’s stop in Emporia cams as part of a listening tour that also saw him travel to Cottonwood Falls and Council Grove Tuesday.
