The Emporia State baseball team closed out the regular season with an 8-3 win over Central Oklahoma and earned a spot in the MIAA Tournament.
A 5 run 7th inning was the difference for the Hornets. Sam Chaput hit a 3 run home run to highlight the inning. Kadyn Williams hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning and added a 2-run home run in the 7th inning.
Emporia State will open the MIAA tournament with a best of 3 series against Central Missouri the MIAA regular-season champion on Friday.
The other MIAA first-round best of 3 series has: Washburn at Central Oklahoma, Rogers State at Northeastern State, and Pittsburg State hosting Missouri Southern.
The 4 winners advance to the double-elimination tournament to be played in Edmond, Oklahoma.
