The New York Yankees outscored the Kansas City Royals 6-4 Sunday afternoon.
Aaron Judge hit a solo home run in the first inning.
The Royals took the lead with a 3-run third inning, Michael A. Taylor hit a solo home run, Nicky Lopez scored on a wild pitch and Andrew Benintendi scored on a Carlos Santana double.
The Royals added a run in the 4th inning, Kyle Isbel scored on a Cam Gallagher sacrifice bunt and an error.
The Yankees scored 2 runs in the 5th inning and 2 more in the 7th to retake the lead. Aaron Judge added a solo home run in the 9th.
The Royals will play a make-up game at St. Louis this afternoon. The first pitch is set for 12:15 pm.
The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
The Royals scratched third baseman Bobby Witt Jr. from the lineup about an hour before Sunday’s series finale against the Yankees at Kauffman Stadium because of a right wrist contusion that Witt sustained Saturday night when he was hit by a pitch.
The Royals are optimistic Witt would be ready for Monday’s game against the Cardinals.
The Royals did place catcher Cam Gallagher on the 10-day injury list with a grade 2 hamstring pull. The Royals have called up their number 2 prospect catcher M.J. Melendez.
