Two highways near Harveyville will see work as part of a mill and overlay project that’s supposed to begin this week.
Kansas Highway 31 will have about 10 miles of highway resurfacing from Highway 99 to the Osage County line. Kansas Highway 195 from Harveyville to K-31, or less than a mile worth of highway, will also be resurfaced.
Work is supposed to begin Thursday, weather permitting, although there is a good chance of showers and thunderstorms in the current forecast. Once work begins, it will take place weekdays and possibly Saturdays during daylight hours. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and a pilot car will direct drivers through the work zone. Delays of up to 15 minutes are expected.
Shilling Construction of Manhattan was awarded the project with a $1.55 million bid. Work should end by mid-June.
