Over the past two years, residents, businesses and organizations have embodied the Kansas motto of “ad Astra per Aspera” (to the stars through difficulties) at an extraordinary level throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, one local institution has been recognized for its commitment and service to the local community.
Emporia State Federal Credit Union was recently named the recipient of a 2021 To the Stars: Celebrating Kansas Businesses regional award. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced the honor saying ESFCU was deserving because of its “outstanding contributions to the community, the state’s economy, and the people
of Kansas.”
Governor Kelly went on to say “ESFCU’s resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated tenacity and that Kansans will continue to reach to the stars.” ESFCU Marketing Director Susie LeGault says the honor was a welcomed surprise.
LeGault adds the credit union strives to make every member feel like part of a family which she believes contributed to the recent recognition.
The credit union was nominated for the award by Flint Hills Technical College President Caron Daugherty who stated in a recent news release, “we recognize our partners have choices in how they affiliate their name and reputation. We are honored to have ESFCU’s support and look forward to the partnership’s continued success.”
The To the Stars: Celebrating Kansas Businesses Regional Award program is overseen by the Kansas Department of Commerce and recognizes businesses across the state for making vitally important contributions to communities across Kansas.
