The United Way of the Flint Hills’ annual fundraising campaign is complete.
At Wednesday’s Campaign Celebration, it was announced the drive raised $420,726. Chief Executive Officer Mickey Edwards says it was a great total, given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Drive chair Mike Argabright agrees. He says COVID changed the focus of a lot of donors over the past year — but he was pleased with the campaign and he says it was “hard to say no” when he was asked to lead the drive.
The drive officially started in mid-August and benefits 22 community partners across eight counties. Wednesday’s total does not include $120,000 for the Emergency Housing Project.
As part of Wednesday’s ceremony, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness received the Impact Award, while Lyon County State Bank was given the Spirit Award.
