The Emporia High softball team lost a game and won a game in the Spartan Classic Saturday.
The Lady Spartans were outscored by Andover Central 4-2. Emporia High scored a run in the top of the 1st, Kaylee Reimer scored on a ground out.
Andover Central scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first.
The Lady Spartans tied the game in the 4th, Gracie Gilpin scored on an Addie Kirmer double.
Andover retook the lead for good scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Emporia High held on for a 2-1 win over Kapaun Mt. Carmel in their second game.
Adriana Hernandez scored on a pickoff attempt in the 3rd.
Gracie Gilpin scored on an Addie Kirmer single in the 4th.
Gilpin was also the winning pitcher. He pitched all 7 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts.
Emporia High Coach Aaron Hammond called it a good day.
The Emporia High softball team closes out the regular season Thursday with a doubleheader at Washburn Rural.
