Flood barricades near Emporia could well be picked up Monday with flooding officially over.
The Cottonwood River at Soden’s Grove crested at 20.89 feet early Saturday, nearly a foot above flood stage of 20 feet but below the level where it gets on top of Kansas Highway 99. It went below flood stage before 9 am Saturday.
The Neosho River at Neosho Rapids crested at 22.27 feet Saturday morning, just above flood stage of 22 feet, and went below flood stage Saturday afternoon.
Several roads have been closed since minor flooding was noticed early Friday after anywhere from 1.75-3 inches of rain areawide Wednesday and Thursday:
*Road 155 and F-5
*Road 160 from G to J
*West South Avenue from H to 160
*Road A from US Highway 50 to Road 180
*Road G from 160 to 170
This week’s forecast calls for slight chances of showers and storms Tuesday night and then again Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday.
