Next week, the Kansas Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in cases involving the state’s recently-redrawn legislative districts.
Oral arguments for the case involving the new state map will take place at 9 am Monday, followed by arguments at 1:30 pm Monday in the case involving new Congressional district boundaries.
The state maps passed the Legislature with large bipartisan support. The Congressional maps did not after Republican-led majorities split parts of Douglas and Wyandotte counties from the Third District and moved them into the Second District. Opponents say the new maps were “racially gerrymandered” and designed to limit minority votes.
