Emporia Highs Brenden Kienholz is guaranteed a medal at the 5A State Tennis Tournament. He was 3 and 1 on the first day of play.
He won his first-round match defeating Cullen Knipp of St. James Academy 7-5, 4-6, 10-5
He was defeated by Sam Richie of Maize in the 2nd round 6-2, 6-3.
He then defeated Cael Province of DeSoto 9-1 in his first consolation round match.
He also defeated Jaden Rodriguez of Shawnee Heights 9-0.
He will play 3 more matches Saturday and could finish as high as 5th place.
Going into the tournament Brenden was looking forward to the challenge.
This is Brendens first year playing singles.
