The tight housing market seen locally for months is easing just a bit.
Sunflower Association of Realtors says April ended with a month’s worth of supply. The goal is six months, but supply had been well under a month since at least late last year.
April had 42 total home sales in Emporia ,just below the 44 in April 2021. Homes are still selling fast — a five-day average between listing and closing.
So far this year, there have been 131 home sales, down from the 141 through the first four months of last year.
Elsewhere across Lyon County, the pace of home sales outside the Emporia city limits is actually a bit faster than it was in April 2021. There were 38 home sales last month, above the 34 last year. Homes are on the market for an average of five days before they sell.
Year-to-date, Lyon County has had 114 home sales, just under last year’s total of 115.
