The Emporia Public Library — and members of the community — had chances to interview the first finalist for the open director position Tuesday.
The board officially interviewed Maggie McKiethan before a public forum at the library. McKeithan, a native of Troy, Kansas, tells KVOE News she finds a lot of potential for the library.
McKeithan is currently the public library director at Spring Lake District Library in Spring Lake, Michigan, but she has also led the Library District No. 1 in Doniphan County before moving to Michigan. Before moving to library management, she was a public school teacher in Pittsburg and El Dorado.
If selected, McKiethan would take over for Robin Newell, who has retired after leading the library since 2014. The board has not mentioned the number of finalists for the position.
