K-State Research and Extension has several days of Youth Tractor Safety classes coming to start June.
Classes Wednesday, Friday and June 6 will all take place at PrairieLand Partners John Deere, 1744 Road F, and are designed to certify 14-year-olds and 15-year-olds for farm employment for anybody other than their parents. Participating youths will get a completion certificate proving they received four hours of equipment training after they go through a session and sign certain paperwork.
All three sessions go from 8 am to 1:30 pm. The program is co-sponsored by K-State Research and Extension for Lyon, Chase and Coffey counties, as well as Farm Bureaus in all three counties and the Flint Hills Antique Tractor Club.
Pre-registration has ended, but parents can still call 620-341-3220 or stop by the Lyon County Extension office at 2632 West Highway 50 for information. Email addresses are needed so students can have information completed by the time they attend a session.
