There is nothing good about gas prices these days — just a combination of bad and ugly.
Gas prices were already high as we approached the Memorial Day weekend, but gas has seen nearly daily increases over the past week and is now approaching $4.60 a gallon. Kansas AAA Public and Government Affairs Manager Shawn Steward joined KVOE’s Morning Show on Wednesday with an update. He says demand has remained strong, but that may change if prices go much higher.
Prices could go higher, thanks to strong demand and limited supply, and Steward says $5 gas may not be where the needle stops. There are some rumblings of gas as high as $6 nationally at some point this year.
There are a few things you can do to stretch your dollar a few extra miles. Tire pressure, new air filters and slowing down on highways can help gas mileage. Steward also says jackrabbit starts are among several habits that burn fuel faster than you might like.
