Lyon County Commissioners will consider two allocations to local higher education institutions during their weekly action meeting Thursday morning.
Commissioners could approve an allocation of $60,400 to Flint Hills Technical College along with a separate allocation of $250,000 to Emporia State University. The commission has traditionally allocated similar funds to both institutions to support student scholarships and other initiatives for several years.
Separately, local agencies will continue to present allocation requests for the 2023 fiscal year. Commissioners will hear presentations from the Lyon County Senior Center, Fair Board and Sheriff’s Office.
County Engineer Chip Woods will present a quote from Foley Equipment Co. for a used 2017 Caterpillar motor grader for commission approval. Presentations from Lyon County Zoning and Flood Plain Manager Sam Seeley and Melissa Powelson and Judi Grover of ECenter of Kansas are also scheduled.
The meeting will begin at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
